Cryptocoryne becketti Brown – Live Aquarium Plant

Cryptocoryne becketti Brown is a beautiful and popular aquatic plant native to Sri Lanka, known for its attractive combination of green and brown leaf colours. Belonging to the Araceae family and the Cryptocoryne becketti group, this hardy freshwater aquarium plant has been a favourite among aquarists for decades.

Features of Cryptocoryne becketti Brown

This easy-to-grow aquarium plant is an excellent choice for beginners and experienced aquascapers. It adapts well to a wide range of water conditions, including both soft and hard water. Its lighting requirements are relatively low, although moderate to stronger lighting can encourage healthier growth and more vibrant foliage.

Once established, Cryptocoryne becketti Brown develops attractive brown-green leaf rosettes that gradually spread to form dense clusters. It is ideal for creating natural-looking aquascapes and adding texture and colour to the foreground or midground of a planted aquarium, depending on the tank layout and growing conditions.

For the best results, plant it in a nutrient-rich substrate and provide regular fertilisation. CO₂ supplementation can support more vigorous growth, but it is not essential for maintaining this undemanding plant.

Cryptocoryne becketti Brown can also be grown emersed in a moist, nutrient-rich substrate, where it may produce flowers under suitable conditions.
