Alternanthera sessilis Red – Red Aquarium Stem Plant

Add a vibrant splash of red and purple to your aquascape with Alternanthera sessilis Red, an attractive aquatic stem plant known for its sturdy reddish-purple stems and long, pointed leaves. Its rich colours create a beautiful contrast against green aquarium plants, making it an excellent choice for planted aquariums and colourful aquascaping layouts.

Growth and Care

Alternanthera sessilis Red grows into a compact, bushy plant under suitable aquarium conditions. It requires medium to high lighting to encourage strong growth and develop its attractive red and purple leaf colours. Adding CO₂ can promote faster growth and help the plant grow towards the water surface.

For the best results, provide adequate micronutrients and maintain stable water conditions. A lack of essential micronutrients may cause the leaves to become pale and lose their vibrant colour. Plant several stems together to create a fuller, bushier appearance and a more impressive visual effect in your aquarium.

Whether you’re creating a colourful planted tank or enhancing an existing aquascape, Alternanthera sessilis Red is a striking choice for aquarium enthusiasts.
