Hygrophila pinnatifida

Hygrophila pinnatifida is a unique and decorative aquatic plant native to India, well known for its distinctive lobed leaves and attractive colour variations. Its leaves feature olive-green, leathery brown to reddish-brown upper surfaces, adding texture and contrast to planted aquariums. Unlike many other Hygrophila species, its unusual leaf shape makes it an excellent choice for creating a natural and eye-catching aquascape.

This versatile aquarium plant can be used in the midground or attached to hardscape features such as driftwood and rocks, creating a beautiful natural appearance. With suitable growing conditions, Hygrophila pinnatifida can develop into an attractive focal point in nature-style aquariums and aquascapes.

Originally found growing along streams and rivulets in parts of India, particularly around the Western Ghats, this species has become a valued choice among aquascaping enthusiasts. Both its emersed and submerged forms display distinctive divided leaves, making it visually appealing in different growing environments.
