Hardscaping Foam – Expanding Polyurethane Foam for Aquascapes & Terrariums
Hardscaping Foam is a versatile expanding polyurethane foam designed for creating custom structures in aquascapes, terrariums, and vivariums. It allows hobbyists to build lightweight backgrounds, rock formations, platforms, and other creative landscape features with ease.
Hardscaping Foam Key Features
- Versatile Hardscape Building – Ideal for creating custom shapes, backgrounds, ledges, and landscape structures.
- Expanding Foam Formula – Expands after application, helping fill gaps and build three-dimensional structures.
- Easy to Shape – Once fully cured, the foam can be trimmed, carved, and sanded to achieve the desired shape.
- Ideal for Creative Projects – Suitable for terrariums, vivariums, and aquascaping projects.
- Layered Application – Can be applied in multiple layers to create larger or more detailed structures.
How to Use
- Shake the Can
Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds before application. - Attach the Nozzle
Securely attach the supplied applicator nozzle or straw to the can valve. - Test the Foam
Spray a small amount onto scrap material to understand the foam’s flow and expansion. - Apply the Foam
Hold the can upside down and slowly apply the foam to the desired area. Fill approximately 50% of the available space to allow room for expansion. - Build in Layers
For larger structures, apply multiple layers and allow each layer to expand and cure before adding the next.
Hardscaping Foam Curing & Finishing
Allow the foam to cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions, typically from a few hours to overnight. Do not disturb the foam while it is curing.
Once completely cured:
- Trim excess foam with a utility knife.
- Carve the surface to create your desired shape.
- Sand lightly where a smoother finish is required.
Safety & Storage
- Use only in a well-ventilated area.
- Avoid breathing the vapors during application.
- Keep away from open flames, sparks, and other ignition sources.
- Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Clean the applicator immediately after use with acetone or the manufacturer’s recommended solvent.
- Dispose of empty cans and used materials according to local regulations.
Important: Allow the foam to fully cure and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for sealing and finishing before exposing a completed structure to aquarium water or livestock.
