Growth and Care

Hygrophila polysperma Green is a fast-growing stem plant that can reach approximately 25–40 cm in height under suitable conditions. Its leaves may vary in shape and colour depending on the lighting and growing environment. When grown underwater, it typically develops softer, more elongated, light-green leaves.

This aquarium plant is often supplied in its emersed form, meaning it has been grown above water. After planting in an aquarium, it can gradually adapt to submerged growth and develop new underwater leaves.

Regular trimming is recommended to prevent the plant from becoming overcrowded or shading nearby aquatic plants. Healthy stem cuttings can be replanted to encourage further growth.
