Rotala rotundifolia ‘Green’ – Green Aquarium Stem Plant

Rotala rotundifolia ‘Green’ is an attractive aquatic stem plant known for its vibrant green leaves, matching green stems, and distinctive drooping growth habit. Belonging to the Lythraceae family, this plant is a beautiful choice for planted aquariums and aquascaping layouts, especially when you want to create a natural, lush underwater environment.

Unlike many other varieties of Rotala rotundifolia, the true ‘Green’ form maintains a consistently green appearance under water. Its stems initially grow upright before gradually bending and arching downward, creating an elegant, cascading effect. This unique growth pattern can add movement, depth, and a natural appearance to your aquascape.

Rotala rotundifolia ‘Green’ originates from Southeast Asia and grows well in tropical aquarium conditions. It is suitable for planted tanks where its distinctive foliage and overhanging growth can be used to enhance the overall layout. With suitable lighting, stable water conditions, and regular trimming, it can develop into a beautiful green background or midground feature, depending on your aquarium design.
