Bucephalandra Moss
Bucephalandra Moss is a rare and beautiful miniature aquatic moss known for its tiny leaves, extremely compact growth, and vibrant bright-green colour. Its delicate appearance makes it an excellent choice for detailed aquascaping, especially when you want to create a natural, lush look without overwhelming the rest of the aquarium.
This unique moss originates from Southeast Asia, particularly Borneo, and is commonly found growing naturally on Bucephalandra plants—hence the name Bucephalandra Moss. It can be used as a carpeting moss or to fill small gaps between aquarium plants, rocks, and other hardscape elements, creating a seamless and natural-looking aquascape.
Bucephalandra Moss can attach well to a variety of surfaces, including relatively smooth surfaces such as acrylic, particularly when grown under high-intensity lighting. While some sources describe it as a slow-growing moss, growing experience shows that it can develop at a medium growth rate in high-tech aquariums with strong lighting and CO₂, while growth is generally slower in low-tech setups.

Important Care Note
Bucephalandra Moss can be sensitive to liquid carbon products containing glutaraldehyde, including products commonly used for algae control. Using these products at full recommended doses may cause the moss to turn brown or become damaged. If liquid carbon or similar treatments are necessary, we recommend using a significantly lower dose and testing carefully first.
With its compact growth, vibrant green colour, and exceptional ability to add fine detail, Bucephalandra Moss is an excellent choice for aquascapers looking to create a sophisticated, natural, and highly detailed planted aquarium.
